According to TMZ, veteran RB Chris Johnson is currently “in talks” with multiple NFL teams about a potential opportunity. However, the report doesn’t say who these teams are.
Johnson is currently working out and insists that he’s good to go, despite being shot in the shoulder during a drive by shooting in Florida back in early March.
This if the first reported interest in Johnson since the Jets declined his option a few months ago.
The problem for Johnson and other free agent running backs is that this year’s draft class is very deep at the position, which means NFL teams could wait until after the draft to bring guys in for training camp.
Johnson, 29, ran for 663 yards on 155 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 151 yards receiving and two total touchdowns during the 2014 season. Pro Football Focus rated Johnson as the No. 46 running back out of 57 qualifying players
