Christian Hackenberg Goes Unclaimed, Now Free Agent

Former Raiders and Jets QB Christian Hackenberg officially passed through waivers unclaimed on Wednesday, according to Ian Rapoport, and is now a free agent.

Hackenberg, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Jets back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $4.7 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.08 million for the 2018 season.

The Jets traded Hackenberg to the Raiders last month for a conditional seventh-round pick. However, Oakland waived him on Tuesday.

During his three-year college career at Penn State, Hackenberg threw for 8,457 yards while completing 56.1 percent of his passes to go along with 48 touchdowns and 31 interceptions.

Hackenberg has yet to appear in an NFL game.
