The Indianapolis Colts announced Sunday that they have agreed to terms with former Eagles G Todd Herremans.
- Adam Caplan reports that Herremans receives a one-year contract worth up $3.5 million.
Herremans tells Josina Anderson:
“It was a different experience for me going through trying to find a whole new team. Indy seems like a good fit for me and a good opportunity to start. I want to compete for a Super Bowl. I’ve been close before but never quite close enough. I had a good time speaking with their offensive line coach and their general manager Ryan Grigson. I know him from when he was in Philadelphia. It was good to reconnect. I have a good feeling about it. I’m really excited to get started.”
The Colts brought Herremans in for a visit on Friday, so they moved fairly quickly to get a deal done.
Philadelphia released Herremans in a move that cleared $2.8 million in available cap space.
Unfortunately for Herremans, his 2014 season was cut short after he sustained a torn biceps that required season-ending surgery and led to him being placed on injured reserve.
Herremans, 32, was limited to playing in just eight games. Pro Football Focus has Herremans down for playing 525 snaps last year, but he’s rated as the No. 57 guard in the league out of 78 qualifying players. His poor rating comes from troubles in pass protection.
