Colts Bring In A Number Of Safeties For Workouts Including Chris Clemens & M.D. Jennings

Howard Balzer of LockerDome.com reports the Indianapolis Colts recently brought in several safeties for workouts including: Chris Clemons, DeJon Gomes, M.D. Jennings, Jerron McMillian, Bacarri Rambo, and Jamarca Sanford.

Clemons, 28, was among the final roster cuts made by the Texans a month ago as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players. It was a somewhat surprising move given that they signed him to a two-year, $2.7 million contract back in March.

A previous report mentioned that the Dolphins could have interest in re-signing him, but there hasn’t been much buzz since then.

Last year, he recorded 62 tackles, eight passes defended, and an interception over the course 16 games. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 19 safety in the league out of 86 qualifying players.

Jennings, 25, signed a one-year, $745,000 contract with the Bears back in March, but he was also a roster cut. He recently worked out for the Seahawks, so there has been at least some interest in him in the past few weeks.

Last year, he totaled 74 tackles, a sack and a fumble returned for a touchdown as a member of the Packers. Pro Football Focus had Jennings rated as the No. 67 safety in league last year and below-average in coverage.

Rambo, 24, was a 2013 sixth-round pick of the Redskins. He too has worked out for a few teams in recent weeks including the Bears and Patriots. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 79 safety out of 86 qualifying players last year.
