Colts C Phil Costa Retiring From The NFL

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they have placed veteran C Phil Costa on the Reserve/Retired list.

Phil feels it’s in his best interest to retire from the game,” said General Manager Ryan Grigson. “We certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.

This comes a surprise given that the Colts signed Costa to a two-year contract worth $2.75 million at the start of free agency.

Costa, 26, he was limited to playing in just three games last year and Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just one snap last season.

Even with Costa on their roster, you could have made the case that they were in need of help at center. The best available options in free agency are Kyle Cook, Fernando Velasco and Jonathan Goodwin.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see them target a prospect in this year’s draft.
