Colts, Cardinals, Jaguars, & Seahawks Could Be Suitors For DeMarco Murray

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Colts, Cardinals, Jaguars, and Seahawks could all be potential suitors for RB DeMarco Murray in free agent.

  • Rapoport adds that Seattle, obviously, only be an option if RB Marshawn Lynch were to call it a career and retire.

The Cowboys unsurprisingly used their franchise tag on WR Dez Bryant, which means Murray will be given an opportunity to meet with prospective teams in the coming weeks.

Of the teams listed, the Jaguars could make the most sense, as they’re expected to move RB Toby Gerhart to a H-back role next year, according to Rapoport.

On top of that, they have well over $50 million available cap space to work with, so they could really make Murray an enticing offer.

The Colts have a good deal of cap space as well, it seems likely that they will pursue big names on the defensive side of the ball, rather than hand out the top running back contract in free agency.

It would be a mistake to rule out the Cowboys, seeing as reports have said that they were hoping for Murray to come back to them with the offers he receives.

Murray, 26, was extremely impressive this season. He ran for 1,845 yards on 393 carries (4.7 YPC) and scored 13 touchdowns, over the course of 16 games and added another 57 receptions for 416 yards receiving.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 running back in the league out of 57 qualifying players.

We have Murray listed as the No. 9 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
