Colts CB Vontae Davis Expected To Miss “At Least” First Month Of Season

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Colts CB Vontae Davis is expected to miss “at least” the first month of the 2016 season, due to ligament damage in ankle.

This explains why the Colts signed veteran CB Antonio Cromartie to a contract on Monday.

Colts HC Chuck Pagano mentioned earlier in the day that Davis is “week to week“, but it sounds like his ankle injury is a little more severe that Pagano was letting on.

Davis, 28, is in the third year of his four-year, $36 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Davis appeared in all 16 games and recorded 48 tackles, four interceptions and 16 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 29 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
