Colts Claim OLB Lavar Edwards Off Waivers From Panthers, Cut CB Darryl Morris

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve claimed OLB Lavar Edwards off waivers from the Panthers and waived CB Darryl Morris.

Edwards, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Titans back in 2013. He was traded to the Cowboys a year later and would go on to spend just over a year in Dallas.

Since then, Edwards bounced around a bit, playing for the Raiders, Bears, Cowboys and Bills before he was claimed off of waivers by the Panthers at the start of the season. The Panthers elected to cut Edwards loose on Tuesday.

In 2016, Edwards has appeared in five games and recorded seven tackles, one sack and a pass defense.

Morris, 26, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas State back in 2013. He was on and off of their practice squad before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Texans.

Morris was in line to be a restricted free agent, but the Texans elected to not tender him an offer, which allowed him to sign on with the Jets back in March. Morris was unfortunate cut loose coming out of the preseason before signing on iwth the Colts.

In 2016, Morris has appeared in six games for the Colts and recorded 16 tackles, no interceptions, and a pass defense.
