Colts Claim QB Josh Woodrum Off Waivers, Cut TE Mike McFarland

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that they’ve claimed QB Josh Woodrum off of waivers from the Giants.

  • The Colts also waived TE Mike McFarland with the injury designation.

Woodrum, 23, wound up signing on with the Giants a few weeks ago as an undrafted free agent out of Liberty. However, he was just recently waived as the Giants added QB B.J. Daniels to their roster.

During his four-year college career at Liberty, Woodrum threw for 10,266 yards while completing 63.9 percent of his passes to go along with 61 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also contributed 228 yards rushing and 16 rushing touchdowns.

McFarland, 24, signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida a few days after this year’s NFL draft. However, he was later waived with the injury designation a few weeks into the preseason, and placed on injured reserve with a calf injury.

Houston wound up releasing him with a settlement a few months later. The Colts signed him to a contract back in late March.

Should he pass through waivers unclaimed, McFarland would likely revert to the Colts’ injured reserve list.

McFarland has yet to appear in an NFL game.
