Colts Cut S LaRon Landry, LB Andrew Jackson & OT Xavier Nixon

The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday that they’ve released veteran S LaRon Landry and placed LB Andrew Jackson and OT Xavier Nixon on waivers.

There was some talk that Landry could be on the outs in Indianapolis. It’s worth mentioning that Landry missed four games this past season due to a PED violation.

This moves makes you wonder if the Colts will try to re-sign either Mike Adams or Sergio Brown, both of whom are free agents.

Landry, 30, still had two years remaining on his four-year, $24 million contract that included $11 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salaries of $3.5 million and $4.5 million over the final two years of the agreement.

Releasing Landry will free up $2.25 million in cap space while creating $3.5 million in dead money.

Last year, Landry appeared in 11 games for the Colts and recorded 47 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 39 safety of out 87 qualifying players.
