Colts DB Tevin Mitchel Goes Unclaimed, Reverts To Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts placed DB Tevin Mitchel on the injured reserve list after passing through waivers unclaimed.

Mitchel, 25, was originally a sixth-round pick by the Redskins in the 2016 NFL Draft but lasted just a few months with the team after they elected to waive him in early August.

It appeared as though the Redskins were hoping Mitchel would clear waivers and revert to injured reserve, but the Colts later claimed him off of waivers.

Indianapolis placed Mitchel on injured reserve last season due to a shoulder injury. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his college career, Mitchel appeared in 42 games (29 starts) at Arkansas and finished with 157 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 18 pass defenses, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
