Colt’s Decided To Cut Peyton Manning Weeks Ago?

NFL.com’s Jason LaCanfora reports the Indianapolis Colts were already prepared to release QB Peyton Manningweeks ago.”

According to sources who were involved in the Colts’ GM search, the organization was planning to move on from Manning weeks ago, well before this public squabble between the quarterback and his owner,” reports La Canfora.

This week was filled with a lot of back and forth comments from Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay and it really seemed as though the relationship had disintegrated but they released a joint statement yesterday which attempt to clarify the situation. La Canfora warns that there’s no reason to think that the statement will impact the teams decision to cut Manning in the coming weeks.

At this point, it’s safe to suggest that Manning will be playing for a team other the Colts come next season; assuming that he’s healthy enough to convince someone to sign him.
