Colts Expect To Have A Long-Term Deal In Place For WR T.Y. Hilton “Eventually”

Colts owner Jim Irsay told reporters on Wednesday that he does expect to have a long-term extension in place for WR T.Y. Hiltoneventually,” per Mike Chappell.

However, Irsay made it clear that “it takes two parties” to come to an agreement, per Stephen Holder. Irsay added that he has no idea what Hilton’s contract demands might be.

Back in February, Jason La Canfora mentioned that the Colts are expected to be “very proactive” in signing their 2012 draft class to contract extensions, which includes Hilton.

According to La Canfora, Hilton was likely to be the first addressed when Indy began signing players to extensions.

Andrew Luck is, obviously, the most notable player in the Colts 2012 draft class, but Indianapolis has already picked up his fifth-year option, which leaves him under team control for the foreseeable future.

Hilton, 25, has one year remaining on his four-year, $2.642 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $665,000 for the 2015 season.

Last year, Hilton caught 82 passes for a career high 1,345 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 10 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a possible extension for Hilton as the news is available.
