The Colts have also been linked to Packers free agent OLB Nick Perry, so they’re clearly in the market for an edge rusher.
Indications have been that Sheard was likely to move on from New England and pursue a big pay day in free agency.
Sheard, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Browns back in 2011. He spent four years in Cleveland before signing on with the Patriots in 2015.
In 2016, Sheard appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 33 tackles, five sacks, and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 edge defender out of 109 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
