Colts To Give Trent Richardson “As Much [Work] As He Can Handle” In Week 3

Colts HC Chuck Pagano told reporters on Thursday that newly acquired RB Trent Richardson will play “as much as he can handle” in Sunday’s game the 49ers, per Kevin Bowen.

Pagano referred to Richardson as “a rolling ball of butcher knives” and mentioned that he “fits our scheme to a T.”

This is obviously great news in you happen to own Richardson in your fantasy league, as it appeared as though they may give him this week to ease into their offense. That’s apparently not the case, even they’ll be up against a very solid 49ers’ defense in Week 3.

Colts GM Ryan Grigson explained his reasoning for making the trade earlier today as well.

“I watched every game [Richardson] played for Cleveland,” Grigson said, via SI.com. “Believe me, I know the numbers — 3.5 yards a carry, long [run] of 32 — but I also know in this business you can go by the norm, and you can go by the eye test. What do your eyes tell you? They tell me he’s special. He’s a 4.48-second 40 guy who defenders don’t want to tackle. I loved this kid coming out. He’s only 23 years old, and I still think he’s a great back.”
