Colts Hosted TE Gabe Holmes For Visit

According to Howard Balzer, the Indianapolis Colts hosted free agent TE Gabe Holmes for a visit on Friday.

Holmes, 27, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May of 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of preseason, but was cut loose just a few weeks later.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers and elected to bring Holmes back on a one-year, exclusive rights contract this past April. Unfortunately, Oakland waived him coming out of the preseason and he later signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad.

Seattle elected to release him and he later signed on to the Ravens’ practice squad. Arizona signed him to their practice squad at the end of November and promoted him to their active roster in December of 2017.

He made the Cardinals’ active roster coming out of the preseason but was cut loose and signed to their practice squad. Arizona recently released him from their practice squad.

In 2018, Holmes has appeared in eight games for the Cardinals but did not record any statistics.
