There are multiple reasons why the Colts would be looking to move Freeney. First, he’s 32 years and is due a little over $19 million for the 2012 season. Second, Freeney is the prototypical 4-3 defensive end and still one of the best in the game but moving to a hybrid 3-4 defnsive front makes him less valuable to the team.
Freeney has been one of the most dynamic pass rushers in all of football since being drafted by the Colts in 2002 as proven by his 102.5 career sacks. There will be a number of NFL team’s checking in on his availability but the Colts asking price will have a big impact on whether or not he’s ultimately traded.
