Colts In Trade Talks For Veteran Cornerback or Offensive Lineman?

Jason La Canfora reports that the Colts are not in discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers for WR Mike Wallace.

La Canfora adds that the Colts could be looking to acquire a offensive lineman.

Phil Richards of the Indianapolis Star reports that a source has informed him that the Colts are pursing a veteran cornerback.

This coincides with what Michael Lombardi was saying on twitter.

Colts need corners who play man to man,” tweets Lombardi. “More size in the DL and OL help.”

He also adds that it’s safe to assume that the coach would have at least some experience with this player. Chuck Pagano has been with the Baltimore Ravens since 2008. Defensive coordinator Gregory Manusky worked with the Chargers last season and the Raiders before that, but neither team seems to have the veteran corner that can make an impact.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Colts are not pursuing Cowboys CB Michael Jenkins.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweets that there’s “serious trade winds are swirling” and adds that they’re targeting a “serious vet/starter” in return for a high draft pick.

Irsay mentions that these type of deals “often crumble and don’t reach completion,” so it’s safe to assume that nothing is guaranteed at this point.

Some of the speculative targets that have been tossed would like Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew and Steelers WR Mike Wallace.

Apparently, Irsay’s “checkbook stands ready,” so I guess there is a chance that a deal could consummate in the near future. Both the Jaguars and the Steelers have said that they have no intentions to trade either player, but depending on the Colts offer, that can always chance. You cannot rule the possibility of them targeting a completely different player all together.
