Colts Placing First-Round S Malik Hooker On PUP List After Hamstring Tweak

The Indianapolis Colts are placing first-round S Malik Hooker on PUP list to open training camp after he tweaked his hamstring, according to Kevin Bowen.

Hooker already missed the team’s entire offseason program due to an offseason surgery, so this isn’t ideal for him or the team.

Hooker, 21, was selected with the No. 15 overall pick by the Colts and is considered to be one of the best safety prospects in this year’s draft class.

He decided to forego the final two years of college eligibility to enter the 2017 NFL Draft after earning first-team All-Big 10 honors last season.

According to OverTheCap.com, Hooker will receive a four-year contract worth $12,850,988, which includes a signing bonus of $7,486,172. The contract also has a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020.

During his two-year college career at Ohio State, Hooker recorded 84 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, seven interceptions, four pass defenses and three defensive touchdowns in 19 total games for the Buckeyes.
