Colts Waive RB Matt Jones, Promote G Adam Redmond To Active Roster

The Indianapolis Colts announced Saturday that waived RB Matt Jones and promoted G Adam Redmond from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Jones, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Redskins back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.952 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $639,113 in 2017.

The Colts claimed Jones off of waivers from the Redskins, as they cut their roster down to 53 players last week.

In 2016, Jones has appeared in seven games and rushed for 490 yards on 144 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 304 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.

Redmond, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard back in May of last year. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason but has been on and off of their practice squad ever since.

During his college career, Redmond appeared in 31 games at Harvard and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team and was selected to the All-Ivy League first-team that season.
