Colts HC Chuck Pagano told reporters on Friday that will make a roster move and promote RB Matt Jones from their practice squad with rookie RB Marlon Mack being ruled out for Week 3’s game, per Kevin Bowen.
- The Colts waived G Ian Silberman to make room for Jones.
Jones, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Redskins back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.952 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $639,113 in 2017.
The Colts claimed Jones off of waivers from the Redskins, as they cut their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason. Jones was cut loose soon after only to be brought back last week.
In 2016, Jones has appeared in seven games and rushed for 490 yards on 144 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 304 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
