Colts QB Andrew Luck Expected To Be Out “At Least A Month”

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Colts are “realistically expecting” QB Andrew Luck to miss “at least a month” due to the kindey laceration and the partial tear of an abdominal muscle he sustained this past weekend.

  • According to Werder, the Colts are prepared for a potentially longer absence for Luck.
  •  Jay Glazer (per Jason Smith) reports that Luck is likely to miss around six weeks.

Yesterday, the Colts surprisingly announced that Luck was out 2-6 weeks following the injuries.

“The injuries happened at the end of an early fourth quarter scramble when Andrew was doing everything he could to get us the win,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “Andrew was sore after the game and was feeling a little worse Monday afternoon so we sent him to get tests.”

Pagano also announced that Matt Hasselbeck will be their starting quarterback for the time being.

The Colts are currently on bye this week, but their upcoming schedule consists of games against Falcons (away), Buccaneers, Steelers (away), Jaguars (away), and Texans.

Luck, 26, is under contract for another two years and stands to make base salaries of $3,404,727 and $16.155 million during this time. Of course, everyone around the league expects him to ultimately become the highest paid player in NFL history at some point in the next year or so.

This season, Luck has completed 55.3 percent of his passes to go along with 1,881 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Luck’s return as the news is available.
