Colts Release QB Josh Johnson

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Colts have released veteran QB Josh Johnson on Monday.

This comes after the news that the Colts are signing WR/KR Marcus Thigpen to their roster.

Johnson, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has played for a number of teams including the 49ers, Browns, Bengals, Chargers, and Jets before signing on with the Colts a few weeks ago.

With Andrew Luck sidelined with a shoulder injury, Johnson has served as Matt Hasselbeck‘s backup, so he would likely only be back with the team should Luck miss more time.

Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season while playing for the Bengals.
