Colts Release Veteran OLB Shaun Phillips

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they’ve released veteran OLB Shaun Phillips.

He joined the Colts back in November after he was claimed off waivers from the Titans.

Phillips, 33, was entering the final year of his contract and would have made a base salary of $2.55 million for the 2015 season. However, there are no guarantees remaining in his contract, which means the Colts will free up $2.65 million in cap space.

Last year, he appeared in all 16 games last year for the Titans and Colts and recorded 24 tackles, two sacks and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated Phillips as the No. 43 out of 46 qualifying 3-4 outside linebackers.
