Colts Rookie WR Phillip Dorsett Out 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Ankle

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Colts rookie WR Phillip Dorsett suffered a fractured ankle during Sunday’s loss to the Saints and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

  • Schefter adds that Dorsett will undergo further testing on Monday, for what it’s worth.
  • Former NFL physician David Chao wouldn’t be surprised if Dorsett’s injury required surgery or led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve, as 4-6 weeks is optimistic for this kind of injury.

After the game, Dorsett was seen sporting a walking boot and on crutches in the locker room, so it was clear that he could miss some time due to this injury.

Dorsett, 22, was taken in the first round of this year’s NFL draft, and is in the first year of his four-year, $8.135 million rookie contract that included $6.591 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $435,000 for the 2015 season.

Entering today’s game, Dorsett had caught 10 passes for 159 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Colts.
