Colts Sign Former Texans OLB John Simon To Three-Year, $13.5M Deal

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Colts have signed former Texans OLB John Simon to a three-year contract on Friday.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Simon receives $13.5 million over the course of three seasons.
  • Stephen Holder adds that the contract includes $5.5 million guaranteed.

Simon, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Baltimore before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season. The Texans later signed him off of the Ravens’ practice squad before bringing him back on a low-round restricted tender worth $1,671,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Simon appeared in 11 games for the Texans and recorded 51 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
