Colts Sign OLB Chris Carter & Promote CB Frankie Williams, Cut Two

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve signed OLB Chris Carter and promoted CB Frankie Williams to their active roster.

Carter, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011. He lasted just over three years in Pittsburgh before he was waived and later signed by the Colts.

After a brief stint with the Bengals, the Ravens signed him to a contract towards the end of last year and brought him back during free agency. The Ravens cut Carter loose on Wednesday.

In 2016, Carter has appeared in five games for the Ravens and recorded two tackles.

Williams, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason before later signing to their practice squad.

During his college career at Purdue, Williams recorded 227 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, a forced fumble, two recoveries and 17 pass defenses over the course of 47 games.
