Colts Sign QB Alex Tanney & DB Dezmen Southward To Practice Squad, Cut 2

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that they’ve signed QB Alex Tanney and DB Dezmen Southward to their practice squad.

  • The Colts also released QB Matt Blanchard and G Kitt O’Brien from the unit.

Tanney, 27, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth back in 2012. Since then, he’s had brief stints with the Cowboys, Browns and Buccaneers, Titans and Bills before joining the Colts a few months ago.

However, Tanney has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Southward, 24, was in the second-year of his four-year, $3.125 million rookie contract when the Falcons waived him last week.

This season, Southward has appeared in three games and recorded one tackle for the Falcons.

Hunt, 22, was taken in the seventh round of this year’s draft. However, he was unable to make the team coming out of the preseason, but was quickly added to their practice squad.
