Colts Sign Rookie DL Kelcy Quarles Off Patriots Practice Squad, Cut RB Dion Lewis

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that they have signed rookie DT Kelcy Quarles to their active roster from the Patriots’ practice squad.

  • The Colts also waived RB Dion Lewis.
  • Indy signed G David Arkin to their practice squad and cut Josh Walker to make room for him.

Quarles, 22, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina back in May. However, he was among the team’s final roster cuts as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players this past weekend.

During his three years at South Carolina, Quarles recorded 105 tackles, 23.5 tackles for a loss, and 13 sacks.

Lewis was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2011.  He was traded to the Browns in 2013, but released before the beginning of this season. He’s rushed for 171 yards on 36 carries in his career.
