Colts Sign WRs Seantavius Jones, Justice Liggins & James Wright To Futures Deals

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that they’ve signed three wide receivers to futures contracts for the 2018 season including Seantavius Jones, Justice Liggins, and James Wright.

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Jones, 25, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State back in 2014. He lasted two years in New Orleans before signing on with the Eagles in February of last year.

The Chiefs would sign him to a contract a few months later and he was on and off their practice squad last season. Unfortunately, Kansas City elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2015, Jones appeared in three games for the Saints but did not record a statistic.

Wright, 26, was a seventh-round selection of the Bengals back in 2014. Wright wound up making the team’s 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later waived with an injury designation in July of 2015. After clearing waivers, Wright reverted to the team’s injured reserve list where he remained for the entire season.

The Browns waived him with an injury designation a few weeks ago and he later reverted to injured reserve before he waived with a settlement back in August.

In 2016, Wright appeared in 13 games and caught 13 passes for 106 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
