Colts Still Holding Out Hope For Peyton Manning?

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay reportedly told Super Bowl donors that he doesn’t expect Peyton Manning to be back this season but later tweeted a clarification.

I didn’t say Peyton out 4season FOR SURE,keeping him on ActiveRoster n taking it month by month/Outside chance of return n December possible,” tweeted Irsay.

During last night game Chris Collinsworth mentioned that the Colts considered using Manning as their “red zone” quarterback considering that he was able to throw the ball short but later decided against the idea as Manning would still be susceptible further injury.

The Colts are currently 0-3 and even with some winnable games on their schedule, it’s hard to image that they’ll still be competing by the time that Manning would be able to return. It just doesn’t make sense that they would play him when they could be out it weeks before he’s available. Then again, the Colts could have won last nights game against Pittsburgh so anything’s possible.
