Colts Tried Out CBs Bill Bentley, Brandon Dixon & Robert McClain

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Colts brought in three free agent cornerbacks for tryouts this week including Bill Bentley, Brandon Dixon and Robert McClain.

McClain, 27, is a former seventh round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He lasted just over a year in Carolina before he was waived at the start of the 2011 season.

Since then, McClain has played for the Jaguars and Falcons before joining the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent this past March.

Unfortunately for McClain, he was among the Patriots’ roster cuts a few weeks ago.

In 2014, McClain appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 59 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 90 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

Bentley, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Lions back in 2012. He had one year remaining on his four-year, $2.649 million rookie contract when the Lions elected to cut him loose back in June.

In 2014, Bentley was limited to appearing just two games after he sustained a season-ending ACL injury in earlier September.

During the 2013 season, Bentley appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recorded 29 tackles and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 82 cornerback out of 110 qualifying players that year.
