Colts Waive DB Tyvis Powell From IR, Sign OT Tyreek Burwell To PS

The Indianapolis Colts officially waived DB Tyvis Powell from injured reserve with a settlement on Tuesday.

  • The Colts also signed OT Tyreek Burwell to practice squad and released LB Garrett Sickels from the unit.

The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. QB Phillip Walker
  2. ILB Darnell Sankey
  3. TE Henry Krieger-Coble
  4. WR Fred Brown
  5. WR Krishawn Hogan
  6. NT Joey Mbu
  7. OT Andrew Wylie
  8. S Ronald Martin
  9. RB Matt Jones
  10. OT Tyreek Burwell

Powell, 23, signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in May. He is in the first year of a three-year, $1.62 million contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

The Seahawks signed WR/KR Devin Hester to their active roster for the playoffs and waived Powell in a corresponding move. The Browns later claimed him off of waivers before waiving him back in June.

Powell was once again claimed off of waivers by the Colts but was, unfortunately, waived with an injury designation and later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

In 2016, Powell appeared in eight games for the Seahawks and recorded three total tackles.
