Colts Waive RB Chris Rainey

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they have waived RB Chris Rainey.

  • Stephen Holder reports that the decision to waive Rainey was not based on his performance, but was instead conduct related.

The move is a little surprising given that they just recently lose Vick Ballard to season-ending Achilles tendon injury.

Rainey, 26, is a former fifth-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He lasted less than a year with the Steelers before he was placed on waivers. Rainey later signed on with the Colts in November of last year.

Last season, he appeared in two games and recorded six kickoff returns for 131 yards and four punt returns for 29 yards.
