Colts Waive RB Matt Jones, Promote Two

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they have elevated WR K.J. Brent and C Anthony Fabiano from their practice squad and waived RB Matt Jones, while also waived/injured G Kyle Kalis to make room for them.

Jones, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Redskins back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.952 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $639,113 in 2017.

The Colts claimed Jones off of waivers from the Redskins, as they cut their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason. Jones was cut loose soon after only to be brought back.

In 2016, Jones has appeared in seven games and rushed for 490 yards on 144 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 304 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.

So far this season, Jones has appeared in three games and recorded 14 rushing yards on five attempts (2.8 YPC).
