Colts Waive/Injured WR Trey Griffey, Sign WR Chris Briggs

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they have signed WR Chris Briggs to a contract and waived W Trey Griffey with an injury designation.

Should Griffey clear waivers on Tuesday, he would revert to the Colts’ injured reserve list.

Griffey, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Colts an undrafted free agent out of Arizona back in May. He stands to make a base salary of $465,000 for the 2017 season.

During his college career at Arizona, Griffey caught 79 passes for 1,241 yards receiving and six touchdowns over the course of 35 games.

Briggs signed a future/reserve with the Seahawks back in January but was unfortunately placed on waivers a few weeks after this year’s NFL draft.

Briggs played for Southern Mississippi and Southeastern Louisiana during his college career and totaled 37 receptions for 536 yards receiving and three touchdowns over the course of 36 games.
