Colts Working Out QB Josh Freeman

Mike Freeman of B/R is reporting that free agent QB Josh Freeman is scheduled to work out for the Colts on Monday.

The Colts have been dealing with a number of injuries at quarterback and Matt Hasselbeck is considered to be unlikely to play in Week 17’s game because of an AC sprain in his throwing shoulder.

Beyond that, Charlie Whitehurst suffered a hamstring injury and Andrew Luck has missed a number of games with a lacerated kidney, so it couldn’t hurt to bring someone in this week.

Freeman, 27, was taken in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. He wound up playing four years for the Bucs before they cut him loose in July of 2012.

The Vikings wasted no time in signing him to a contract, but it proved to be a disastrous decision for both parties. Freeman later caught on with the Giants in April of last year, but he lasted a little over a month in New York before he was once again released.

The Dolphins elected to give Freeman another shot this past in April, only to release him after a few weeks. Miami would later bring him back for training camp, but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts.

In 2013, Freeman appeared in just four games and 42.9 percent of his passes for 761 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.
