Concern Rams G Rodger Saffold May Not Return This Season

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Rams G Rodger Saffold (right shoulder) is not expected to return to the playing field any time soon, if at all this season.

  • According to Caplan, Saffold’s injury is still being evaluated at this time, but his injury is to the opposite shoulder that was previously surgically repaired.

If Saffold ends up being out for the season due to this shoulder injury, it would be a setback for an offensive line that has had some serious issues this season.

It’s also concerning that Saffold is dealing with another shoulder injury, as he had an agreement in place with the Raiders before they later failed his physical and terminated the agreement.

Saffold, 27, is in the second year of his five-year, $31.347 million contract that included $19.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $4.25 million (2015), $4.25 million (2016), $4,722,233 (2017), and $5 million (2018) over the remainder of the contract.

This season, Saffold has appeared in five games and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 76 guard out of 79 qualifying players.
