Contract Details For Larry Fitzgerald’s New Agreement

Joel Corry of CBS Sports has the full breakdown of Larry Fitzgerald‘s new contract with the Cardinals.

Fitzgerald receives a four-year contract that includes $11 million guaranteed in the first two years of the agreement.

According to Corry, the contract will pay him $10 million on the second day of 2015 league year in the form of a roster bonus. This $10 million figure is treated as signing bonus and will be prorated over the course of the deal since it’s fully guaranteed at signing.

His base salaries for the next two seasons will be $1 million (2015) and $11 million (2016) and are fully guaranteed.

Fitzgerald’s deal also includes base salaries of $16 million in each of the 2017 and 2018 seasons, but according to to Corry, these years will void five days after the 2016 league year Super Bowl.

Corry mentions that Fitzgerald’s 2015 cap number decreases from $23.6 million to $10.85 million and creates $12.75 million in cap space for the Cardinals.

Fitzgerald also managed to add in a no trade clause to a contract.

Overall, Fitzgerald did really well with this deal. A report on Thursday mentioned that NFL teams are concerned that he received $11 million guaranteed, as they thought he was more likely to top out at $7-$8 million.

The Cardinals have shown a great deal of respect for him over the course of his career and it appears as though he’ll have a shot at finishing things out in Arizona.
