Contract Details For Vontaze Burfict’s New Three-Year, $19M Deal

It took a little while, but the Bengals officially announced that they had reached agreement with LB Vontaze Burfict on a new contract extension.

According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, Burfict receives a three-year deal wroth $19 million.

  • Burfict’s contract includes a $3.1 million signing bonus as well as a roster bonuses of $3.8 million that was paid on August 30.
  • Burfict has another roster bonuses of $3.15 million due on the fifth day of the 2015 league year.
  • Burfict’s base salaries will be: $700,000 (2014), $1.05M (2015), $2.85M (2016), and $3.75M (2017).
  • His cap figures will be: $5.279M  (2014), $5.175M(2015), $3.825M(2016), and $4.725M (2017).

Burfict, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Arizona State back in 2012 due to numerous concerns, but he has quickly developed into the Bengals’ best linebacker, and ended up leading the NFL tackles last season.

Burfict was entering the final year of his contract and would have been a restricted free agent next year. He was set to make just $570,000 for the 2014 season, so you can see that he has clearly earned a significant pay raise.

Last year, he totaled 170 tackles, three sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, two recoveries and a defensive touchdown.
