Contract Extension For LT Donald Penn Considered A Top Priority For Raiders

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that one of the top priorities for the Raiders this offseason is to hammer out a new contract for LT Donald Penn.

Last we heard regarding Penn, Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area reported that the two parties were scheduled to meet at the Combine regarding an extension.

Penn previously voiced his displeasure that the team had yet to contact him regarding a deal. In fact, Penn said that he and his agent had already begun exploring outside options at that point in time.

Oakland has over $67 million in available cap space, so they could easily afford to give Penn a raise if they felt this was the right move for them.

Penn, 32, finished out his two-year, $9.6 million contract that he signed in 2014 after being released by the Buccaneers and is in position to be one of the best offensive tackles in this year’s free agent market.

In 2015, Penn appeared in all 16 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 10 overall tackle last season.

We have Penn featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
