Contract Extension Is Not Imminent For Ravens WR Torrey Smith

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that, as of now, an agreement between the Ravens and WR Torrey Smith on a contract extension is not imminent.

  • Wilson sources have mentioned that contract talks are not heating up at this point.

Wilson suggests the two sides might be able to find middle ground in $6 million to $8 million annual salary range.

This would leave Smith will a similar deal to the ones signed by Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (four years, $32 million) and Lions WR Golden Tate (five years, $31 million) this offseason.

There has been plenty of talk that Baltimore could have a long-term contract in place with Smith at some point in the near future, but very little reported progress has been made in recent months.

Smith, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract will make just $837,168 for the 2014 season, so he’s clearly in line for a big raise.

Last year, he caught 65 passes for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 60 receiver in the league last year.
