Contract Talks Between Colts & ILB Jerrell Freeman “Not Going Well”

Chris Hagan of FOX 59 reports that contract talks between the Colts and free agent ILB Jerrell Freeman are “not going well” and the two parties aren’t close to an agreement.

  • Meanwhile, Mike Chappell seems to think the Colts could be approaching this situation with a take-it-or-leave-it offer. Chappell also doubts there’s much give-and-take going on here.

The Chiefs reportedly have interest in Freeman, but they elected to re-sign Derrick Johnson to a multi-year contract instead.

There has been surprisingly little buzz regarding Freeman, who some consider to be one of the best free agents in this year’s market.

Freeman, 29, wound up signing on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Mary Hardin-Baylor back in 2008. He lasted just a year with the Titans before he waived at the start of the season.

It wasn’t until four years later that he got another NFL opportunity when the Colts signed him to a contract in 2012. He returned to the team on a restricted contract last year and is now one of the best available linebackers in this year’s free agent market.

We have him featured in our Top 2016 Free Agents list.
