Contract Talks “Going Well” Between The Browns & TE Jordan Cameron

 

Browns TE Jordan Cameron mentioned that contract talks between his reps and the team have been “going well.”

“It’s positive, the whole process has been positive,” Cameron said, via Tom Reed of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I’ll leave it at that. It’s ongoing and going well. . . .

“Always hopeful, but I’m not worried about that at all. We’ve got Washington to look forward to.”

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports previously reported that “it’s at least possible” that the Browns could have an agreement in place with Cameron before the start of the regular season.

According to La Canfora, the two sides have been in talks, but sources have informed him that they are not close to a deal at this point in time.

La Canfora added that the Browns proposal to Cameron has been in the “$5 million to-$6 million range,” which comes in below the recent contract signed by Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph, who will around $7 million per year.

Cameron has reportedly turned down numerous offers from the Browns, despite the fact that he has maintained that he would like to continue playing for the Browns.

“If I didn’t say it, it’s not true,” Cameron told Cleveland.com a few months ago. “I would love to play here. I started here, I want to finish up here. But the contract stuff is outside of here. I’ll let my agent deal with that.”

Cleveland could always use the franchise tag on Cameron next year, depending on how talks go in the coming months.

Cameron, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is scheduled to make just $645,000 for the 2014 season. He’s coming off of a break season in which he caught 80 passes for 917 yards receiving and seven touchdowns over the course of 15 games.
