Cowboys Activate DL Josh Brent, Waive LB Tim Dobbins

The Dallas Cowboys announced Tuesday that they have activated DT Josh Brent from the reserve/suspended list and waived LB Tim Dobbins.

Dobbins, 31, signed with the Falcons after they sustained some injuries during training camp, but he was ultimately released as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

The Cowboys signed him to their active roster after they placed OLB Justin Durant has been moved to the season-ending injured reserve list.

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett announced Tuesday that they are activating DL Josh Brent to their 53-man roster, per Tim MacMahon.

  • Garrett added that Brent is currently not in game-shape and will need to lose some weight in the coming days.

The Cowboys signed Brent to a one-year extension worth $745,000 close to two weeks ago.

Brent served a 180-day prison sentence after he was convicted of intoxication manslaughter. He was released from prison in June and finished out the remainder of his sentence in a substance abuse center.

Brent, 26, last appeared in an NFL game during the 2012 season. He finished that season with 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
