Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reported earlier in the week that sources close to the Dallas Cowboys have informed him that they’re involved in “preliminary discussions” with free agent WR Plaxico Burress‘ agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Jerry Jones has since dismissed the idea.
“We haven’t even discussed that internally at all,” said Jones. “It’s not been discussed at any level in our organization one way or the other.”
This all stemmed from Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones who didn’t completely dismiss the idea when asked about it.
Dallas is currently holding a competition for their No. 3 receiver position, but the idea here is that Burress could be their backup plan, should neither of the players secure the job. I guess it’s a possibility, but hardly something that I’d be willing to bet on.
