Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick Suspended 4 Games

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones tells Tim MacMahon that CB Orlando Scandrick has been suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season.

  • Scandrick tells Jay Glazer of Fox Sports that he took something in Mexico while on vacation and it triggered the positive test.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Scandrick’s suspension is from a recreational drug, and not a supplement.

Scandrick, 27, is listed as the team’s starting cornerback opposite of Brandon Carr, so this could prove to be a big setback for the Cowboys.

Former first-round pick CB Morris Claiborne figures to fill in for the Cowboys while Scandrick is out with his suspension.

Last year, Scandrick recorded 64 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and 13 pass defenses over the course of 16 games.

Pro Football Focus has Scandrick rated as the No. 38 cornerback out of 110 qualifying players last season.
