Todd Archer of ESPN, citing multiple sources, reports that Cowboys DE Randy Gregory is expected to meet with NFL officials this week in New York, which may include commissioner Roger Goodell, about being reinstated from a year-long suspension.
Reports have said for a few months now that Gregory was working his way through the reinstatement process, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.
Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones mentioned at the Combine that they plan to move forward as if Gregory wouldn’t be with the team for the upcoming season. However, the team later said that they would welcome him back to the team if/when he’s officially reinstated.
Gregory wound up missing the entire 2017 season while serving a suspension for another failed drug test.
Gregory, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in May of last year. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.814 million contract that includes $1.404 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.
In 2016, Gregory appeared in two games for the Cowboys and recorded nine tackles and a sack.
