No Decision Has Been Made To Reduce Cowboys DE Randy Gregory’s 10-Game Suspension As Of Now

Update:

According to Jason Cole, the Cowboys are under the belief that DE Randy Gregory will be back after he serves his four-game suspension.

Cole says that Gregory’s appeal of the 10-game suspension has not been heard yet, however, the NFL could rule on appeal without a hearing on the appeal.

Cole insists that this means there has been no definitive word on Gregory’s suspension and his camp has been told nothing.

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that while others have said that Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has had his 10-game suspension reduced, no final decision has been made regarding his ban up to this point.

Sources tell Moore that Gregory will be back around the team in Week 2.

———-

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has won his appeal for the 10-game suspension handed down to him a few months ago.

  • According to Rapoport, Gregory is still in rehab and doing well in that regard.

Gregory will instead be suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, as opposed to the first 10.

The suspension stems from another violation of NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Gregory received a four-game suspension back in February for a violation of the NFL substance-abuse policy. He failed four drug tests, per the NFL’s drug policy with the first violation coming at the combine.

Gregory, 23, is in the second year of his four-year, $3.814 million contract that includes $1.404 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Gregory appeared in 12 games for the Cowboys and recorded 11 tackles and no sacks.
