Cowboys Doing Due Diligence On Raiders WR Amari Cooper, Colts & Redskins Also Inquired

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Dallas Cowboys have been calling around to people who know Raiders WR Amari Cooper and gathering as much information as they can about him as they consider a potential trade for the former first-round pick.

Schefter says that the Redskins and Colts have also inquired about Cooper’s availability with the Raiders.

Even so, Schefter says that the Cowboys are the most interesting team to show interest in Cooper, seeing as they could really use some help at the position.

Ian Rapoport previously reported that Oakland is asking for a first-round pick in return for Cooper, which could make a deal “difficult, if not impossible.”

Cooper, 24, is a former No. 4 overall pick by the Raiders out of Alabama in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $22.7 million fully guaranteed rookie contract and is set to earn a base salary of  $705,000 for 2018 to go along with a $2,825,426 roster bonus.

The Raiders picked up Cooper’s fifth-year option back in April, which will cost them $13,924,000 for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Cooper has appeared in five games for the Raiders and caught 22 passes for 280 yards receiving and one touchdown. He has also rushed for nine yards on one carry.

We’ll have more regarding a potential trade involving Cooper as the news is available.
